Introduction
1Home Server software updates are available for free. All product variants run the unified 1Home Server software, which means that all product variants follow the same software updates releases.
All of our software updates follow our core guidelines:

- Offline centric
- Reliability
- Simplicity
- Ready for professionals
With each new software update we also release detailed release notes what new features are available, what changes were made and any fixes made.
Updating
Software updates are released often (i.e. each month) and distributed via the Internet.
When the 1Home Server device powers on, it automatically checks if a software update is available and automatically installs the latest software update.
Once running, the 1Home Server will periodically check for software updates. If a software update is available, a notification will be displayed in the 1Home Server dashboard prompting the user to trigger the update installation.
Prior to v1.8.1
1Home Server devices running versions before v1.8.1 would check for software updates every night at 2 AM local time and if a new software update was available, would automatically download and install it.
With v1.8.1 this behavior was changed to only check for updates and prompt the user to install and reboot.
On device boot behavior where the device automatically installs the latest software updates is still present in all versions.
Checking for Updates Manually
- Open the 1Home Server dashboard
- In the
Systemtab, click onUpdate
Update menu with a new update available.
If a software update is available an Install button will appear prompting you to install the latest software update.
Clicking Install will trigger the download and installation of the software update package. Do not reboot your device during the installation of a software update. After the completion of the software update installation, you will be prompted to reboot the device.
