1Home Digest: August '24 Edition 1
Hello 1Homies! We know you missed us so let's dive right in:
Siri Gets a Major Upgrade
The iOS 18.1 beta introduces a redesigned Siri with Apple Intelligence, offering enhanced contextual understanding and a sleek new look. Siri now appears as a glowing light around the display, improves context retention between queries, and is more forgiving of misspoken requests. Users can also type requests within any app and access extensive Apple product knowledge.
Google TV Streamer Replaces Chromecast
Google introduces the Google TV Streamer, a 4K set-top box designed to replace Chromecast. It supports 4K HDR, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos, and acts as a smart home hub with Matter and Thread radio integration. The new Voice Remote features additional buttons, improved grip, and a "Find My Remote" function.
Google Upgrades Google Assistant on Nest Devices
Google is updating Google Assistant on Nest speakers and displays with Gemini AI technology. Improvements include better media playback, timers, and more conversational voices. The upgraded Assistant will understand natural language better, enabling smoother conversations. These features will be available to Nest Aware customers in a Public Preview later this year.
Meross 3-in-1 Sensor with Matter
Meross is now accepting preorders for its MS600, a 3-in-1 sensor that detects presence, light, and motion. It uses mmWave technology, has a light sensor for smart automations, and has a pet-proof feature. The MS600 supports Matter over WiFi, making it easy to connect with Apple Home, Google, and Alexa.
Smart Homes for Chickens?
We are absolutely loving this article which explores how smart technology can ease the challenges of raising backyard chickens. It covers the use of a Smart Coop with automated doors, cameras, and AI alerts to monitor the flock. Additionally, Aqara sensors track temperature and humidity, YoLink manages water levels, and a light sensor helps with feeding and much more.
And that's a wrap!
Until next time.π«Άπ»
